A drabble is a short story of one hundred words and no more: depending on how strict you are, the title counts or it doesn’t. This isn’t quite the drabble I posted: the original version didn’t specify the Doctor as clearly, so I got some comments about how the TVM shows the Doctor choosing his costume. I rewrote it and reposted it, and this is what you get here:
A New Look
That’s what was needed. The Doctor looked at himself: he had to admit his attire lacked a certain something. And that pullover! It had to go, replaced with a quieter waistcoat. The jacket, too. Too dark. Reaching into the wardrobe, he selected a lighter tweed. It was time he dressed with the dignity his age deserved - demanded, even. A tie - that’s the ticket!
He looked at his discarded skin, lying dead on the floor, his hat and umbrella huddled together for protection.
Picking them up, looking in the mirror: a shiver. His grave felt one step closer.
